Found that it does not charge the battery of the newest ipod nano, and the sound quality at higher volume becomes distorted. The small amount of saving was not worth the lost performance. Would recommend spending a bit more and getting a better product.
i received this item as a gift, and am extremely pleased with the quality of it. don’t get me wrong, it’s no bose, but for the price, the quality can’t be beat. I was a little skeptical when i saw how small it was, but the sound quality is impressive. the bass is strong. i have been using this in my living room to play music while i am hanging out or entertaining, and for that purpose it’s been working great. i can see how in a large room it could get lost, but for my modest sized space, it’s perfect. easy to use, and easy on the wallet. would be nice if it had a built in clock/alarm, but since that’s not my priority, i’m happy. Altec Lansing FX2020 Expressionist Classic Speakers for PC and MP3 Players (Black) Interesting design and great sound quality. Lets face it, you can get the same quality SOUND from a 30 dollar pair of speakers, but you certainly wont get the sexy, contemporary design these surprisingly large speakers provide.
As far as the sound is concerned, I am more than satisfied with it (and I at one point in my life owned Bose desktop speakers). I can play music for parties fairly loud without ruining the speakers and a nice bass is present. If you are a professional audio person you probably will be disappointed though.
The price is a bit high. I had them in my wish-list for almost a year before they went on sale for under thirty-five bucks (I nearly messed myself when I saw the price). Not worth more than if you are poor like me, but if you have some extra cash I highly recommend shelling it out for these sexy speakers. Oh yes, THE SQUARE AROUND THE SPEAKER HAS A DARK TINT AND IS NOT CLEAR LIKE THE PRODUCT IMAGE SHOWS.
NOTE: there is a new “expressionist” line of speakers available (they have the same sex appeal, just different with a claim of better sound quality). Happy shopping! Remember, Amazon has a great return policy and will even pay the return shipping if it arrived “damaged”.
